My own readings, in pounds. The first point is the first reading I took; after that a point goes on only when a reading comes in 5% or more away from the one before it, which is why the gaps are uneven.

A desk clock with a high and low memoryRoom hygrometers, the smiley face is still smiling at 70 per centThe HTC-1, a large black and white display with the temperature, the humidity and a clock with an alarm, on a fold out stand or a hook. Its memory button shows the highest and lowest temperature and humidity it has recorded, which in a bedroom is the overnight peak. It does not state an accuracy. Nineteen room thermometers that also read humidity, from one search and the order export, and underneath them about ten designs. Every listing that explains its smiley face draws the happy band at 40 to 70 per cent, which runs right up to the level where mould becomes likely. Three give an accuracy, and the best of them is plus or minus 5 per cent. Two of the nineteen do not measure humidity at all. Published 4 Oct 2026
