The price record

in pounds, my own readings

The record starts with the first reading I took: £6.98 on 4 Oct 2026. After that a point goes on only when a reading comes in 5% or more away from the one before it, and no reading since has been that far, so this fills in by itself the day the price moves. Nothing is missing.

Best overall, with a memory and a stated accuracyRoom hygrometers, the smiley face is still smiling at 70 per centA black or white stand with large digits and an orange backlight that comes on at a touch, and a high and low memory for both the temperature and the humidity. Its own panel gives an accuracy, plus or minus 1°C and plus or minus 5 per cent humidity, a resolution of 0.1°C and 1 per cent, and a fresh reading every ten seconds. It stands on a desk, holds to the fridge by a magnet or hangs from a hook. Nineteen room thermometers that also read humidity, from one search and the order export, and underneath them about ten designs. Every listing that explains its smiley face draws the happy band at 40 to 70 per cent, which runs right up to the level where mould becomes likely. Three give an accuracy, and the best of them is plus or minus 5 per cent. Two of the nineteen do not measure humidity at all. Published 4 Oct 2026
