Reed diffuser sticks, eighteen give a length and two say what changes the strength
The short answer
Prices in GBPUSDEUReach row carries the day it was readThirty one packs of reed diffuser sticks from one search and the order export, none of them handled here. The sticks that stand in a bottle of scented oil and draw it up into the room.
Eighteen give a length. Two say what changes the strength.
Which you are buying
| What the photographs show | Listings |
|---|---|
| Plain straight sticks, fibre or rattan | 17 |
| Wavy, spiral or curled sticks | 6 |
| Sticks with a bead or a ball on top | 3 |
| Sticks with flowers on top | 5 |
The plain sticks are most of the page, in black, white or a natural colour. The wavy and spiral ones, the beads and the flowers are rattan sticks with a shape or a decoration added.
Length, and the bottle
Eighteen of the thirty one give a length, in the title or a drawing: 15cm to 30cm, and 22cm is the most common. The sticks have to stand out of the neck of the bottle, so measure the bottle before you choose, and go longer if in doubt. Most that give a thickness say about 3mm. Three sell 3, 4 or 5mm, and one sells 20mm fibre rods only 15cm long, for a wide neck.
Fibre or rattan
Ten titles call their sticks fibre and seventeen say rattan, and the photographs of the plain ones look much the same. Both are sold to draw the oil up out of the bottle. Fibre comes in black and white as well as natural; rattan is natural or dyed, and nearly every wavy, beaded and flower topped stick here says rattan.
Making it stronger or weaker
Two listings say something useful about strength, and it is the sellers’ word. One says you can increase or decrease the number of sticks to control the fragrance and how fast it goes. The other says to reverse the sticks to speed up the fragrance, turning the wet ends to the top. Neither shows a test, and both cost nothing to try.
Bring your own bottle
The titles sell sticks, mostly as replacements and refills. Every pack photographed in a bottle with oil uses it to show the sticks in use. Have the bottle and the oil already, or buy them separately.
What was left out, and why
A 500ml bottle of diffuser oil came back from the search and was taken out, because it is oil rather than sticks. Of what is left, the pack that says glue-free and medicine makes claims the others do not, the 20mm fibre rods are the dearest here, and the curled, beaded and hydrangea sticks give no thickness. One set of fibre stick photographs is sold under three listings and two more under two each. The pink rose sticks say rose scent and show no oil.

What you can settle before you buy
- The length against your bottle. Eighteen of the thirty one give a length, from 15cm to 30cm. The sticks have to stand well out of the neck of the bottle, so measure the bottle first and buy longer rather than shorter.
- Fibre or rattan. Ten titles call their sticks fibre and seventeen say rattan. Both are sold to draw the oil up from the bottle. Fibre comes in black, white and a natural colour; rattan is mostly natural, and nearly every wavy, spiral and flower topped stick here says rattan.
- The thickness and the count. Most that give a thickness say about 3mm, three sell 3, 4 or 5mm, one spiral stick says 2mm, and one is a 20mm fibre rod 15cm long. Packs run from five sticks to five hundred.
- What the sellers say about strength. One listing's panel says you can increase or decrease the number of sticks to control the fragrance and how fast it goes. Another says to reverse the sticks to speed it up. That is the sellers' word, and it costs nothing to try.
What to read twice
- Bring your own bottle and oil. The titles sell sticks, mostly as replacements or refills. The bottles and oil in the photographs are there to show them in use.
- Claims with nothing behind them. One pack says glue-free and that its sticks can be matched with perfume, aromatherapy or medicine. Another says eco-friendly, odourless and not stained, and a fibre rod says high absorption. No listing shows a test.
- A rose scent with no oil. One title says rose scent, and its photographs show five pink rose shaped tops on plain sticks and no oil at all.
- Three galleries, seven listings. One set of photographs of black, white and natural fibre sticks is sold under three listings, and two more sets under two each, at different prices.
