The short answer

Prices in GBPeach row carries the day it was read
Best overall, with a gap for the charger Cream Style Carbon Steel Desktop Holder A folding stand with a hinged arm on a flat base, in cream or pink, with a silicone pad on the lip. Its own close up shows a cut out at the back of the cradle for the charging cable, and its photographs show it holding a phone upright or on its side, with a bracket it says moves through 180 degrees. No height is given, and it holds the phone a little above the desk, which suits messages, recipes and films £4.97checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
The cheapest, and enough for a desk Adjustable Phone Holder Stand Foldable One piece of plastic folded into a Z on a metal hinge, which its own photograph says moves anywhere from 0 to 120 degrees, with a non slip gel pad underneath and slots in the lip it says let the phone breathe. In several colours. No size, and it sits low. The cheapest stand here, and for a phone on a desk it does the job £1.56checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
Folds flat, and says how big it is Cute Phone Stand. Foldable & with Adjustable A one piece plastic stand that folds flat, and one of only two here that measures itself: 7cm wide, 13.2cm tall and 11cm deep, by its own photograph. A notched ladder at the back sets the angle, and it comes in pink, white or blue with a sheet of cartoon stickers. Folded, it goes in a small bag £2.28checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
A silicone sheet, the cheapest of four listings Flexible Foldable Phone Stand Silicone A sheet of silicone about 10cm by 20cm with aluminium inside, by its own photographs, that bends into a tent for a phone or a tablet, hangs over the edge of a monitor or lies under a laptop, and rolls up for a bag. Orange or black. The same sheet in the same photographs is sold under three other listings here, and this is the cheapest of the four £4.40checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
For video calls, the only one built for height 360° Rotating Anti-Slip Base A telescopic pole that its own photograph measures at 23 to 34cm, on a round base 11.5cm across, with a clamp on a ball joint that turns the phone on its side. It is the only stand here that lifts a phone towards your eye line rather than tilting it on the desk, which is what a video call needs. Also shown filming hands on a table £6.18checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
On your keys Foldable Mini Keychain Phone Stand Multi A folding aluminium stand with a clip at one end, small enough to hang from your keys, that opens into a triangle and holds a phone upright or on its side on any table. Six colours. It is for a phone, and the one to have when you are not at your own desk £2.48checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab

Twenty four phone stands from one search and the order export, none of them handled here. The small stand that holds a phone upright on a desk for a call, a recipe or a film.

Every title says adjustable. Two say how tall.

Which you are buying

What the photographs showListings
A folding stand with a hinged arm on a flat base3
A one piece plastic stand that folds flat4
A bendable silicone sheet5
A small metal stand for a pocket or a keyring, or stuck to the phone3
A bent wire easel with two knobs1
Magnetic, for a MagSafe phone or one with a metal ring4
A telescopic pole on a round base1
A leather flap for an aeroplane seat1
A suction cup car mount1

The folding stand with a hinged arm is the one most people picture, and it is the most sensible thing here for a desk. The one piece plastic stands do the same job lower down for less. The silicone sheets and the pocket stands are for a bag. The magnetic ones need a magnetic phone. A twenty fourth listing is taken out of the catalogue, and the reason is at the end.

Height

Health and Safety Executive guidance on display screens says the top of the screen should be level with your eyes, about an arm’s length away. That is written for a monitor, and a phone on a desk stand is nowhere near it: the one plastic stand that measures itself is 13.2cm tall. For a message or a recipe that does not matter. For a video call it means the camera looks up at you from the desk.

The telescopic stand is the only one here built to lift a phone, from 23 to 34cm on a round base 11.5cm across, by its own photograph. None of the folding stands with a hinged arm says how high it goes.

One sheet, four listings

The bendable silicone sheet is about 10cm by 20cm, with aluminium inside it so it holds a shape, by its own photographs. Fold it into a tent for a phone or a tablet, hang it over a monitor, or lay it flat under a laptop. Four listings use the same photographs of it, a woman at a desk with a mouse among them, and they sell at different prices. A fifth, in orange with raised dots, is a different sheet that gives no size.

Magnetic stands

Four hold the phone by a magnet: a folding double ring sold under two listings, a plate that sticks to the back of a laptop lid so the phone sits beside the screen, and an aluminium stand with folding legs that also lifts a laptop and turns into a selfie stick. They suit a MagSafe iPhone, or another phone with a metal ring stuck to its case.

What was left out, and why

The car mount, the stick on kickstand and the leather flap are for a car, the back of a phone and an aeroplane seat. One plastic stand is titled for a games console and sold for one. The wire easel holds its angle on two knobs and gives no size. The magnetic stands are left to people who already have a magnetic phone, and the double ring costs more than twice the best overall pick. Of the four listings of one silicone sheet only the cheapest could be a pick. And one more stand, a folding one titled only cute cartoon bear, is printed with Gloomy Bear, a copyrighted Japanese cartoon character, and is taken out of the catalogue.

What is good

What you can settle before you buy

  • Height is what you are choosing. Health and Safety Executive guidance on screens puts the top of the screen level with your eyes. A phone in a desk stand sits far below that, which is fine for a message or a recipe and poor for a video call, where the camera looks up at you. The one stand here built for height reaches 23 to 34cm.
  • A gap for the charger. A phone on a stand is often charging. The best overall pick shows a cut out at the back of its cradle for the cable. Look for one in the photographs before you buy.
  • Plain plastic is enough for a desk. A one piece stand on a hinge with a non slip pad underneath does the everyday job, and the cheapest stand here is one.
  • A silicone sheet is for a bag. Silicone with aluminium inside, bent into a tent for a phone or a tablet, hung over a monitor, then rolled up and carried. Five listings sell one.
What is not great

What to read twice

  • One sheet, four listings. The same silicone and aluminium sheet, in the same photographs, is sold under four listings at different prices. The pick is the cheapest of the four.
  • Only two say how tall. The folding stands with a hinged arm, the design most people picture, never say how high they hold a phone. One plastic stand measures itself at 13.2cm and a telescopic pole at 23 to 34cm.
  • Four are magnetic. They hold a MagSafe phone, or one with a metal ring stuck to its case, and nothing else. Two of the four are one holder under two listings.
  • Three are not desk stands. A suction cup car mount, a kickstand that sticks to the back of the phone and a leather flap for an aeroplane seat came back from the same search.
