The short answer

Prices in GBPeach row carries the day it was read
Best overall, closed toe and a strap behind the heel Women Home Slippers Garden Clogs Shoes Men's A platform clog with holes across the top and a strap that flips down behind the heel, in white, cream or black, photographed worn with socks on grass and indoors. The toes are covered and the strap holds the heel, which is nearer than any slide here to what the falls advice asks for. It is still a clog: the strap is narrow, the platform is thick, and the title gives no size range £7.12checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
The only one that covers the heel Size 35-43 Black Animal Paw Shoes For Women A plush slipper shaped like an animal's paw, with black plastic claws over the toes, in black, grey, brown or leopard print. The whole foot goes inside, heel and all, the only one of the thirty four that does, and its title gives sizes 35 to 43. Its own photograph of the underside shows a thin, smooth black sole stitched to the plush with no tread, not the firm, non-slip sole the falls advice asks for. A panel headed Real Photos Show has four more pictures of it worn £8.93checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
Covers the toes, open at the back Silk Elegant Mule Slippers Women Home Floral A mule with a woven floral jacquard upper over the toes and a linen footbed, in red, pale blue or cream, photographed on a plain backdrop. The toes are covered but the back is open, so it comes off more easily than the clog or the paw. Its title says silent and anti-slip, and none of its photographs shows the underside £7.85checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
For the shower, and it drains Hollow Out EVA Bathroom Shower Slippers A moulded EVA slide with rows of holes through the footbed, photographed under a running shower with water coming out through them, in grey, pink, white, black or green. One photograph bends it double in a hand, which shows how soft it is. A slide for a wet bathroom floor rather than for wearing round the house all day £5.14checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
The one that is weighed ZUOFU Unisex Quick Dry EVA Slide Slippers A moulded EVA slide with a slot along the footbed for water and a triangle pattern underneath, weighed at 78.0g a pair on a kitchen scale in its own photograph, in four colours. Its panel quotes an elasticity of 1.65 and a softness of 38 degrees with no test behind either. Sold under the name ZUOFU £9.36checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab
Linen, and flat Hemp Casual Women's Slippers Home Flats A slide with a woven linen strap and a linen covered footbed on a flat brown sole, in about ten colours laid out in one photograph. Open at the toe and the back like most here, but with a thin flat sole rather than the thick soft platform the EVA slides sell on, and its photographs make no claim about softness £7.59checked 18 Oct 2026 Check price opens in a new tab

Thirty four slippers and slides from one search and the order export, none of them handled here. The thing you put on at the door and wear round the house.

Thirty of the thirty four have no back. One covers the heel.

Which you are buying

What the photographs showListings
A moulded EVA slide, open at the toe20
A slide with a linen, fabric or fur strap, open at the toe5
A flip flop with a post between the toes2
A mule, closed toe and open back3
A clog with a strap behind the heel3
A slipper that covers the toe and the heel1

The moulded EVA slide is one piece of foam, strap and sole together, and it is most of this page: plain, ribbed, quilted, printed with a word or shaped like a dog, a dinosaur or a smiling face. The strap slides put linen, fabric or fur over the top of a similar sole.

Open toes and no back

Swansea Bay University Health Board’s advice on preventing falls is plain about this. A good slipper needs to have enclosed heels and toes, and it should come up to support the mid-foot area. Slippers that are backless, have open toes or a high heel should be avoided, it says, as they do not offer sufficient grip or support.

By that measure only one listing here passes on shape, the plush paw, and it fails on the sole. The three clogs come next: the toes are covered and a strap goes behind the heel. The three mules cover the toes and leave the back open. Everything else is open at both ends.

That matters most for anyone unsteady on their feet. For a quick trip to the shower, a slide that drains is what it is for.

The sole

The same advice wants a sole that is firm and supportive, ideally non-slip, and says footwear with spongey soles is not a suitable option. Softness is what most of these listings sell. Twenty one titles say soft, five say cloud or pillow, sixteen say thick or platform, and one slide gives its sole as 6cm in its own photographs. Two photograph a slide bent double in a hand.

Size

The advice also says footwear that is badly fitted or loose can significantly increase the risk of a fall. Three titles give a size range, 35 to 43, 36 to 45 and 36 to 47. One clog gives 40 to 45 in its photograph. One flip flop has a panel saying its flip flops are one or two sizes smaller, and to buy one size larger: size 41 or 42 for a size 40 foot. The rest leave the size to the drop-down on the listing, so read it there before you buy.

Non slip

Twenty four titles say non slip or anti slip. Some photograph a tread on the underside, one with orange grip pads, and none shows a test on a wet floor. Treat it as a description of the sole, not a promise.

What was left out, and why

Five came back copying other makers’ designs and are not on this site: two slides in the shape of the Adidas Yeezy Slide, a platform slipper with the look of UGG’s Tasman, a slide with its strap cut in the Hermes H, and a slide with slanted stripes down each side. A two buckle cork sandal was taken out as not a slipper. Of what is left, the plush dog with a cake on its head is the dearest here and the dinosaur, the capybara and the bunny faces are novelty shapes on ordinary slides. Two slides are each sold twice in the same photographs. The mesh clog without a strap, the flip flops and the 6cm platform slide are further from that advice than the picks. One slide’s title says it is a crocodile design and its photographs show a plain slide.

What is good

What you can settle before you buy

  • Open or closed. Twenty seven of the thirty four are open at the toe, and thirty have no back at all. Three are clogs with a strap that goes behind the heel, and one plush slipper covers the whole foot.
  • For anyone at risk of a fall. Swansea Bay University Health Board's advice on preventing falls says a good slipper needs enclosed heels and toes and should come up to support the mid-foot, and that backless, open toed or high heeled slippers should be avoided as they do not give enough grip or support.
  • Check the size. The same advice says badly fitted or loose footwear can significantly increase the risk of a fall. Three titles give a size range, one clog gives 40 to 45 in its photograph, and one flip flop says its sizes come up one or two small.
  • For the shower. Three EVA slides have holes or a slot through the footbed so water runs out, and the four clogs have holes across the top.
What is not great

What to read twice

  • Soft is the selling point. Twenty one titles say soft, five say cloud or pillow and sixteen say thick or platform, and one slide gives its sole as 6cm in its own photographs. The falls advice says footwear with spongey soles is not a suitable option, and wants a sole that is firm and supportive.
  • Non slip with nothing behind it. Twenty four of the thirty four titles say non slip or anti slip. No listing shows a test of how well its sole grips a wet floor.
  • Figures with no test. One slide quotes an elasticity of 1.65 and a softness of 38 degrees, another a softness ratio, and others say odour free, silent or no squeak. None shows how it was measured.
  • Five copied other makers' designs. Two Yeezy Slide shapes, a slipper with the look of UGG's Tasman, a slide with the Hermes H strap and a slide with stripes down its side came back from the search and are not on this site.
